DÊRSIM - Speaking in Dêrsim, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları said: "Just as Seyit Rıza did not bow down, we will not bow down either. It is time to stand side by side more and to increase the struggle on democratic grounds."

In Dêrsim, thousands of people protested against the appointment of trustees to the municipality. A mass march was organised from Sanat Street to Seyid Rıza Square and from there to the municipality. DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, DBP Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, EHP Chair Hakan Öztürk, ESP Co-Chair Murat Çepni and PIA Chair Mehmet Kamaç also participated in the march.

'AKP PAYS TRIBUTE TO COUP PLOTTERS'

Speaking in front of the blocked municipality, "Dêrsim people are remembered with Seyit Rızas, Seyit Rıza did not bow down, Dêrsim did not bow down and will not bow down to your oppression," said Tülay Hatimoğulları and added: "Those who could not achieve a victory at the ballot box, those who could not deal with us despite all the election games and tricks, now think that they can deal with the judiciary with a fake law from the SoE."

'MUNICIPALITIES ARE NOT BARRACKS'

Tülay Hatimoğulları continued her words as follows: "Municipalities are not barracks. Municipalities are the people's homes. Municipalities are not police stations, we as the people should enter those municipalities with open arms. If you really think that you are based on a law, why do you ban the will of the people and surround the municipality with concrete? We will never back down from our democratic demands and the struggle for democracy. Just as Seyit Rıza did not bow down, we will not bown down either.

Dêrsim is a city that was won by the coming together of democracy and revolutionary forces. The trustee regime is also an attack against our democratic alliance. All the peoples of Turkey, Turkey's revolutionaries, democrats, conservatives who are in democracy... together with everyone, we will continue to be on the side of right and law. Trusteeship is a coup, trusteeship is theft, trusteeship is usurpation of will, trusteeship means taking away our right to vote and be elected.

WHAT PEACE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

From the streets of Dêrsim, we once again announce to the world that we are in favour of solving the Kurdis issue through peaceful and democratic methods. On the one hand, their small partners will say let's solve the Kurdish issue, on the other hand, they will bring us to our knees by appointing trustees. There is no such world, there is no such reality. We will continue to struggle as long as the trustee regime is not abolished, as long as the trustee regime does not abolish itself, as long as this law is not abolished with the law proposal proposed by the opposition. What peace are you talking about? You call it Middle East peace, you persecute Dêrsim. You say peace in the Middle East, you say you are against Israel, but you do to the people of Dêrsim what Israel did to Palestine. The police are terrorising on the streets, thinking that they will maintain order, by spraying water, gas and batons.

TIME TO EXPAND THE STRUGGLE

Our call from Dêrsim, the city of struggle, to all of Turkey; let's fight shoulder to shoulder against fascism. We all have to get rid of this scourge of the trustee regime. Therefore, it is time to tighten our ranks more. It is time to stand more side by side, more solidarity, and increase our struggle on democratic grounds. So let's increase our solidarity more. Even if they continue to threaten us with trustees, the people are here. If a ballot box is set up here now, our co-mayors will be elected again, Ankara knows this very well. I call out to Ankara and the Palace from here; give up this oppression. You are violating the constitution, you are violating international conventions to which Turkey is a party. You are committing a crime, you are increasing your crime file and you are adding new pages to it with trustees.

You should know that we will continue to resist as long as you appoint trustees. We will continue to resist as the comrades of Seyit Rıza, Deniz Gezmiş, Mahir Çayan and Mazlum. We are at a time when we will further increase our struggle against the trustee regime and fascism not only in Dêrsim, not only in our cities where trustees have been appointed, but everywhere in Turkey."
