ANKARA – Journalist Huseyin Aykol cannot be awakened because his ventilator support has not been terminated after an infection developed in his lungs could not be stopped following multiple surgeries. 

 

Journalist Huseyin Aykol, who suffered brain haemorrhage at his home in Ankara on October 14, was taken to Sincan Training and Research Hospital for treatment. After undergoing surgery, Aykol experienced another brain haemorrhage and had to undergo a second operation. Following the surgeries, an infection began to develop in his lungs.

 

The infection in Aykol’s lungs could not be brought under control despite ongoing treatment in the intensive care unit. As the infection has not been contained, ventilator support cannot be discontinued, and Aykol has not yet been awakened.
